This is an incredibility important location for not only aviation history but civil rights history as well. Which is why I was so disappointed in the overall layout of the site. First there are two parking lots (upper and lower), even so there is no site map to help direct the flow of exhibit. Meaning each visitor has to figure out how the site flows with the exhibits on their own. I absolutely enjoyed the exhibits/park, once I figured out how walk the site. The way the site is preserved is great, they have quite a few of the original hangers and buildings used by the Tuskegee Airmen. This site helps to tell a story that everyone who is in aviation needs to hear. Not to mention the importance of the Tuskegee Airmen to the Civil Rights Movement. It is a bit of a drive from most major cities but well worth it. In fact, swing by the Tuskegee Institute Historic Site which is roughly about 4.5 or 5 miles away in Tuskegee, AL.

I have been to at least 51+ National Parks across the United States. The con of Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site was out of all things... where to park your car. The official location which seemed out of place or right at the hangar where the museum is locationed. The pros were... it was FREE to tour around the site and the museum was very interesting to learn about aviation and civil rights . I would recommend this location to any person interest in learning about military history & civil rights in the United States.

Very educational, I really enjoyed learning about the airmen, Tuskegee University's role, and the entire experience. Well done and maintained. My husband and I will visit again.

A great place to learn about history although it seems like the exhibits are set up more for school children than adults. Park Rangers were nowhere to be seen. There are two offices that I've seen. One is located in Hangar 1 and one in Hangar 2. The Rangers never left their office for the couple hours I was there. They didn't greet me or teach me about the historic site which is commonplace at other historic sites around the country.

What a great place to understand what the best of America is about! The staff were knowledgeable, really cordial, and fun! The exhibits were moving and informative. If you enjoy history, airplanes, or patriotism, you should make the trip.
